Who are you ?
I’m Joonhyun kim and a freelancer designer in Korea. I graduated from the department of industrial design, Konkuk University in 2010. I am designing various stuffs such as stationery and kitchenware. The reason why I usually design these kinds of things is that I wish many people experience my design and share my thinking.  

what is your vision ?
My goal as a designer is solving the smallest parts of inconvenience. In so doing, I want to change human’s habits which are involved bearing small discomfort. Sometimes, people can’t inkling small inconvenience from their life since they think it is not a big deal and have adjusted to endure small problems. Maybe that doesn’t exist until designer find. This means that designer is the only one who can find invisible discomfort. In modern society, great number of designer wants to search and resolve big problems. That argument makes sense, but my view is that refining small inconvenience also plays an important role for public.

What IS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT?
The Flat bulb which is designed for 100% design Tokyo exhibition in 2008 is my biggest achievement. Flat bulb has slim shape. So it is impossible to fall down when flat bulb is on the desk since it couldn’t roll. Therefore, flat bulb is safer than general bulb. Although I was a student and that was a first design show as a designer, my design was well received in the exhibition. I think that’s what gives me confidence before I decide to work in design field.

WHAT CHALLENGES DOES THE designworld FACE? 
I think the most important thing is voluntary participation of public to protect the environment. If every people care about the environment, every organization such as companies and governments also will recognize importance of biodiversity and think how to sustain biodiversity. After that, time will come soon when human, animals and plants can coexist. So designer must be able to provide people with the opportunity to protect our planet.

what WILL you do if you WIN the green design competition? 
Winning of the green design competition will be a chance to share my view about the green design. I will try to make people to start with small steps of participation to protect our green and plant and animal life from my design. If I get a chance, I want to work together with a company which has a sense of mission to protect the environment for biodiversity.
